Who I Am
My name is Richard Browning. I was born in Sydney, Australia, in December 1946. I still live in Australia but not in Sydney. Here ia a photo of me:
I enjoyed school, and my favourite subject was physics. I studied Civil Engineering at University and did very well. My first career, until retirement at age 67, was as a planning and design engineer in the water supply industry, for municipal water and sewerage infrastructure. I became a multi-disciplinary engineer due to the nature of the projects, which was mostly design of large treatment plants and pumping stations.
At about age 40, I started to develop a preliminary interest in spiritual matters and metaphysics. Thus my interests in the physical and spiritual realms were physics and metaphysics, both relating to similar things but in different realms.
Being a "Teacher about Life" is My Destiny
I have been told in multiple ways that I was here because of the Shift of the Ages, and was destined to be a Teacher about Life. That scared me and hindered my awakening for many years as all I want is a quiet and peaceful life.
In my early 60's, during a very quiet and peaceful meditation session with one other person, I heard the clearest possible voice from within say to me "I will teach about My Self, through you, in ways that are comfortable for you". However, I still kept resisting any idea of public teaching.
Now, here I am at last, working with the One Self teaching about itself through me via this website. This is a comfortable way for me to do it, rather than from the "public stage" which I absolutely do not have the personality for or desire to do. I am a writer, not a speaker.
This work as a Teacher about Life is my second career. The teachings on this website are from the One Self within. I will talk about this more in a later section dealing with our True Self vs our Ego Self.

About the Website
Priceless but Free
Although the material presented on this site is considered to be priceless, the site is free to use. Feel free to take what you want and leave the rest.
Many Quotations Are Available
The quotations containing wisdom that are included on this site are a small fraction of what I have saved on my own computer, which are an even smaller fraction of the vast number of empowering quotations of timeless wisdom available online and in books.
Most of the images with quotations on this site were obtained from Facebook posts. If you want to see more, it just requires joining suitable Facebook groups, which are increasing in number almost daily.
Spelling (UK vs US)
Spelling on the website is a mixture of the UK/Australian spelling that I grew up with, and American spelling which sometimes matches pronunciation better.
Site Layout and Format
This section is not about the subject matter of the website itself, as an overview of that has already been provided on the home page.
It is about things such as the page layout that has beeen used, and why. It also mentions things done to make the material more readable, and to make it more visually interesting compared with excessive amounts of plain text.
I fully understand that many readers will not be interested in reading this type of information, which is perfectly OK with me. If you wish to, just skip the rest of this "About the Website" section. In that case I suggest looking at the Contents Page next.
Coding of the Webpages
The website has been hand-coded by myself using a very limited subset of HTML and CSS only, with no drag-and-drop website builders, and no content management system (CMS) which I think would be the grossest of overkills for a site like this.
Although learning the bare minimum of CSS was difficult and time consuming, I now am truly enjoying writing and creating this website using only HTML and CSS, while being guided by the One Self on what to include as it teaches about itself through me.
Page Layout and Screen Size
The old "holy grail" webpage layout had a wide section in the middle for main content plus a narrow section at each side for other material. That was OK then, as computers with their large screens were originally the only way to view webpages. I believe that the "holy grail" layout is no longer the most suitable arangement, now that half of all website visitors are using mobile phones with their small screens.
The website is responsive to screen size. For larger (computer-sized) screens, a layout with two equal-width columns, side-by-side, has been used. On medium-width screens, the two columns will still be displayed side-by-side but with narrower width. As usual, mobile phones will show the columns one-at-a-time, one after the other, but based on columns of consistent width.
For Readability
Careful attention has been given to using font styles that are widely available and commonly used. The use of color in headings and quotations results in higher overall readability.
Visual Variety
Various ways of adding variety to what could otherwise have been a lot of plain text have been used. This includes quotations within colorful images, usually quotations from well-known and respected teachers, which also add credibility by showing that many of us are saying similar things. The use of color in text quotations, headings and sub-headings also ads variety.
